Who are the Overcomers?

Take_Hard_StanceWho are the overcomers?  Overcomers are a group of people who conform to God’s original plan.

Application:  What was God’s original plan?

God chooses a “few” as a nucleus in order to reach many. We have but to look behind the scenes of any ministry and see the few (the nucleus) working so that the many (congregation) will be blessed.  God first started by selecting individuals such as Abel, Enoch, Noah and Abraham.  Through Abraham (the few) God reached the whole nation of Israel (the many).  Then from the nation of Israel (the few) God reaches the church (the many).  God uses relatively few believers as channels to pour forth life into the church for revival.   Like Jesus did, the overcomer must pour forth blood in order to let life flow.  The overcomer must endure suffering and shame.

Application:  Are you ready to let yourself be defeated so that the Lord may triumph?  2 Corinthians 4:10-12

The work of overcomers  is to carry out God’s commands so that He may later reach the many.  God called the nation of Israel to be a nation of priests, Exodus 19:5-6.  At Mount Sinai the children of Israel began worshipping the golden calf thus failing God.  As a result God selected the Levites (the few) to become the priesthood.  Exodus 32:15-29.  In order to save the nation of Israel God first saved Moses.  He delivered Moses (the few) out of Egypt before he delivered Israel (the many) out of Egypt .  God first gained 12 persons, then 120 and the church was born.  The principle of the overcomer is God calling a few to do the work for the blessing of the many.  God plants the cross in the heart of the few enabling them to pour out life to others.  God puts us first in death for the sake of giving life to others. (2 Corinthians 4:10-12.)  God’s overcomers are pioneers.  Pioneers prepare the way for others to follow.

Application:  Are you willing to take the hard stance, like the Levites, and answer the Lord’s call?

God chooses the faithful few to represent the church (the many) in the demonstration of the victory of Christ.
