The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. John 6:63 (NIV)

He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.  2 Corinthians 3:6 (NIV)

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.  Galatians 5:16 (NIV)

So, what do you see in these scriptures?  A preacher’s challenge today was to know how to walk in the spirit.  What a great challenge!  Jesus said in John 6:63 that the words He speaks are spirit and life.  If that be the case, then the disciple of Christ has to first of all know the word, and secondly allow the Word of God to guide him.  Simply saying, do whatever the savior says to do.  What does the word have to say about any situation or circumstance?  That word is your guide, it’s the leading of the Spirit; allowing you to walk according to the spirit; Jesus is now leading and guiding you into all truth and righteousness (John 16:33). Simple, but it takes a conscious effort on the part of the disciple.
