Message to the Overcomer

A KINGDOM PRINCIPLE

“For it is by grace that you are saved, through faith.  Salvation does not depend on anything that you have achieved, it is the free gift of God; and because it is not earned no man can boast about it.  For God has made us what we are, created in Christ Jesus to do those good deeds which he planned for us to do.”  Ephesians 2:8-10 (J.B. Phillips)

The King James Version of verse 10 says we are God’s workmanship.  Phillips translation is simply that God made us what we are.  It goes on to say that we are created to do good deeds.   Hello…how many of us are doing our own thing, never taking into consideration what God has created us to do.  We pick and we choose.

We think good deeds are helping the homeless, going to the prisons, teaching bible studies, teaching children, etc.  All those are admirable, but if they are not orchestrated by the Spirit of God then they come from the flesh, your flesh.  It is difficult not to help a family member, but if you are not led by the Spirit of God to do so, then your work is not of faith.  We are God’s workmanship, and he made us with a purpose in mind.

A very important principle of the Kingdom is to be led by the spirit of God.  Jesus often said that his will was to do the will of the Father, who sent him, John 6:38.   In other words Jesus knew what his purpose on earth was and who gave him purpose.  Jesus ministered to people as the Spirit led him, not out of his emotions.  When we listen to the leading of the Spirit and follow Him, eventually we discover the works we are created to walk in.  The word “walk” comes from a Greek word which means to live, to follow, and to be occupied with.  One writer put it this way walk means to regulate your life, and to order one’s behavior.  I like that.  It is not a life of mishaps or a life of hits and misses.  It is a life of choice, choosing to take charge of your life by turning it over to the spirit of the most-high God.  He made us, and knows what he created us to be.  Now is the time to seek God, surrender your will to Him and allow him to lead and guide you into all truth and righteousness.  John 16:13

In His service,

Rosita
