Message to the Overcomer

DECISIONS AT THE CROSSROADS

When at the fork in the road, what do you do?  When standing at the cross roads on the path of life, decisions are about to be made.  You may need to make the decision today or maybe tomorrow.  You have need of wisdom higher than your own; guidance by the one who sees the end from the beginning; grace that will be sufficient for you; and of faithfulness that will never fail.  The scriptures give us an abundance of promises of guidance to the trusting Christian.  The key term here is trusting. “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with my eye.”
Psalms 32:8

“The humble he guides in justice;
and the humble he teaches His way.”
Psalms 25:9

Jeremiah chapter 42 has three factors for us when needing God’s provision of guidance.

1). A willingness to ask God for guidance.  Jeremiah 42:2-3 (read)

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.  James 1:5

“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.”  James 1:6

2). A willingness to wait for God’s guidance.  Jeremiah 42:7 (read)

“Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you: ….Blessed are all those who wait for Him.”  Isaiah 30:18

“….For they shall not be ashamed who wait for Me.”  Isaiah 49:23

“Therefore thus says the Lord God:  Behold I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, a tried stone; a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; whosoever believes will not act hastily.  Isaiah 28:16

3). A willingness to obey the will of God.  Jeremiah 42:10 (read)

“….Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice and to heed than the fat of rams.  For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.  Because you have rejected the word of the Lord.”  1 Samuel 15:22-23

“If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.”  Isaiah 1:19

As you stand at the fork in the road, remember to:

  • Ask God for wisdom
  • Wait for his indication of the way or direction you should go
  • Obey him without hesitation

This is what it means to be led in the right way, at His time and for His glory.

With thoughtless and
Impatient hands
We tangle up
The plans
The Lord hath wrought
And when we cry
In pain, He saith,
“Be quiet, dear,
while I untie the knot”.
V. R. Edman

Be blessed, overcomers.  Decisions are a part of life and they must be made.  Since you are not your own; you belong to God….then who better to make those decisions.  It takes the pressure off of you.  God desires to lead and guide you, if only you will allow him.

In His service,

Rosita
