High blood pressure (hypertension) affects over 50 million Americans, that’s one in every four adults. It is regarded as the silent killer.
A normal blood pressure is less than 130/85. High blood pressure is 140/90 or higher. A blood pressure between 120/80 and 140/90 is considered pre-hypertensive. Most young adults have a blood pressure around 120/80. It normally increases with age, even going up to 160/90.
Various causes of high blood pressure:
·  Obesity
·  Stress
·  Hormonal changes in women
·  High salt intake
·  Faulty lifestyle: smoking, alcohol use, caffeine intake, high-fat diet, low fiber diet, lack of sleep, lack of exercise
Home Remedies:
·  Avoid the above causes
·  Fresh garlic: one clove of garlic a day for 12 weeks
·  Papaya: eat on an empty stomach daily for 1 month. Eat nothing two hours after
·  Water: 8-12 glasses of ionized (purified) water daily
·  Watermelon: the seeds, dried and roasted, should be taken in liberal quantities
·  Rice: especially brown rice. The calcium soothes and relaxes the nervous system.
·  Potatoes: boiled with skin. They are rich in potassium and magnesium.
·  Grapefruit: The vitamin P is helpful in toning up the arteries.
·  Lemon: juice of ½ lemon in 8oz of warmed water daily for 2-4 weeks
·  Onion juice and honey: 2tsp & ½ tsp respectively, for a 1 to 2 week period
Other lifestyle changes:
·  Aerobic exercise
·  Avoid speaking
·  Walking barefoot in grass
