Keep Me as the Apple of Your Eye

In Deuteronomy 32:9-12 Moses spoke the words of a song, to all the assembly of Israel saying:

“For the Lord’s portion is His people, Jacob is the place of His inheritance.
He found him in a desert land and in the wasteland, a howling wilderness.
He encircled him, He instructed him, “He kept him as the apple of His eye”.
As an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its young,  spreading out its wings,
taking them up.  Carrying them on its wing, so the Lord alone led Him”.

You know the Lord finds us in our mess our self made deserts, wasteland, trash piles in our lives and wilderness. In positions
and places that we wrongfully or illegally seize or hold, the place of Jacob.  Wanting to be blessed so bad that compromise becomes acceptable if I seemingly look blessed or have prosperity temporarily.

God in His mercy found him, laid eyes on him and said …let me show him and teach him the legal and right way to fly. My
way to fly and maintain your glide and truly be blessed.
God encircled him, wrapped His loving arms all around him, as He began to instruct him.

God decided to keep him as the apple of His eye;
God kept him as a special very valuable project!

Gave him a new name (Israel) a new identity, a
new legal and rightful position and place of authority.   As an eagle God
stirred up the nest, stirred up his comfortable place and set him for
positioning…it’s time now Israel to learn how to fly and soar.
Come.. take hold of My wings, watch your Father, while I take you up, carry you and
lead you.  Do only as I do, speak only as I speak, I alone will lead you and
teach you to soar like an eagle.
Total dependence on God, being carried on His wings, becoming an eagle in His likeness!
Keep me….as the apple of Your eye!

You found me,  in my wilderness,  lost in an empty place
You threw Your,  arms around me,  extended me Your grace
You guard me,  like an eagle,  while hovering over it’s nest
You carry me,  on Your wings, while preparing me for Your best

Obedient I’ll be I’ll never break our tie
Lord to be without You I can’t I’d surely die
Teach me I’ll Listen I need You as my guide
Under the shadow of Your wings I’ll hide
So Keep me as the apple of Your eye
Keep me as the apple of Your eye

My oh my
You lift me high
Onto those hills
To view Your fields
So I could see
Just who I’d be
Upon Your wings
I can do all things

So…..Keep me Lord, keep me nigh, keep me near
Without You, there’s no life, I’m just here
Keep me…..as the apple of Your eye!
Keep me……Keep me Lord
Keep me……Keep me Lord
Keep me……as the apple of Your eye!
